City Seasons Begins Well
Manchester City’s season of defending the Premier League title began with a 2-0 triumph over Newcastle United as they collected all 3 points and currently are at the top of the English League along with: Tottenham, Hull City, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea as they all picked up victories in their opening matches of the season.
The summer spending spree of Manchester City has not been so active compared to other clubs in the Premier League but Manuel Pellegrini is confident that his current squad is better than the one it was one year ago and the Chilean manager displayed his joy about starting the league with a triumph.
Pellegrini said: ‘I am very happy because I think it’s always important to start the season winning, especially when you have to play away at so difficult a stadium as St James. It’s always a difficult stadium for every team that comes here’’
‘’Maybe in the second half we couldn’t have so much possession of the ball because seven of our 10 outfield players were not able to play 90 minutes at the same pace. But we were very concentrated, very well organized and we kept a clean sheet, and finally we decided the game with a second goal’’
Goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero secured the first victory of the season for the team of Manchester City. The next Premier League match of Manchester City will see them battling it out against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in an encounter that could set the tone for what’s to come for both clubs.
Liverpool has signed over 7 players during this transfer window but after selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona, the team of Brendan Rodgers is still considered to be a significantly weaker squad than the one of the previous season.

Wilshere Claims England Is Keen On Doing Well
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says that the England national team is extremely keen on doing well at the World Cup 2014. The national team has not done well in recent major tournaments, while their only World Cup victory till date came in 1966 when the tournament was held in England. As a result, not much is expected from them ahead of the tournament in Brazil, which will start on June 12. Despite this, Wilshere says that all the players from the national team are keen on rewriting the history.
If they are to do so, the tough work will start with the group stage matches because Roy Hodgson’s team will be coming up against the likes of Uruguay and Italy. Both these teams are considered as dark horses for the title itself and England need to beat them in order to progress from the group stages. Wilshere just recently returned from injury problems, which have plagued him for the last two years. He has said that he is certainly not feeling 100% fit, but the upcoming friendly matches against the likes of Ecuador will be helpful in helping him improve his match fitness.
The lack of experience in the squad will be compensated by the presence of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard according to Wilshere.
“We are going to a tournament and we are not going to say we are happy with the semis. We are going there to win it. We want to make the country proud. We are going there with a young squad and when you do that, they bring a ‘no fear factor’. We have got the likes of (Steven) Gerrard and (Frank) Lampard who are there to calm everything down. They have been there three or four times. It is a good mix,” said the Arsenal man.

Toure Claiming To Leave Manchester City
Manchester City star Yaya Touré has sensationally claimed that he may leave the club in the summer since anything can happen in football. His stunning revelation comes days after the star complained through his agent that he was unhappy with the way City treated him on his birthday. Touré recently celebrated his 31st birthday and was given two cakes on behalf of Manchester City. However, the Ivory Coast international has claimed that the club owners did not even shake his hand when the entire team was in the United Arab Emirates as part of the celebrations following the second Premier league title in three years.
Touré has been one of the best players not only in the Manchester City team but also in the entire Premier league as well. He came to the club in 2010 for a transfer fee of £ 24 million from Barcelona. Now, he has claimed that he wants to retire at Barcelona, which have sparked rumours that the Catalan club will be coming in with an offer for the player. Touré has been missed sorely in the last two seasons. Especially last campaign, they slipped from the astronomical levels set under Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova. Barcelona finished the campaign without any major trophy.
Touré scored more than 20 goals from the midfield last season. “I have said that in front of the camera before and I have said that to newspapers about ending my career there (Barcelona), but we don’t know because football is moving fast and you never know about tomorrow. Because of the brilliant season Man City have had, everybody is talking about me and everything is open and we don’t know tomorrow, but my focus is on the World Cup and at the end of the World Cup we will see what happens,” said the midfielder.
